    Silent Disco Haverfordwest

I was invited to provide both equipment and DJ services for Silent Event for a Silent Disco at Haverfordwest. It was such fun for both DJs and participants. We had a channel each, and each channel was represented by a coloured light on the headsets as dancers tuned into respective channels. My channel was red. I started out assessing the age group, and played predominantly dance music from 00’s and 90’s.

Near the end it seemed appropriate to turn to more rock and pop music. This was the point when my followers began to increase. The spread of followers was pretty constant and diverse between the three of us, but by the end a majority were following me. I would thoroughly recommend this method of pleasing more people for more of the time!

    Catherine’s 40th @ Canada Lodge

On this occasion I shared the entertainment space with a band called Back to November who are from Barry.  Four pleasant and talented musicians/vocalists who perform with great harmonies. They plugged their mics into our sound system, and did 2 x  45 min sets.

Catherine had chosen some advance requests which included tunes from Kool and the Gang, Dr. Hook, Jessie J and Robyn Thicke. A happy collection of guests who enjoyed these and other pop and soul numbers. The weather warnings did not prevent a good turn out, and the wood fires were very cosy.

It was lovely to see this couple again, having DJed for their Wedding in Miskin Manor in 2011.

1st February 2014; Barry and Sue McKeever’s Anniversary Party at Cardiff Country Hall

I first spoke to Sue in November, and booked the party. They got married on 14th February 1984, so this was their 30th anniversary. I asked if they had a first dance on the day, and they didn’t. So- 30 years later at their party, they did!

Background music consisted of a mix of tunes from the 60’s- 80’s, and their advance requested songs included music from The Kinks, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Madness and Simply Red. After the buffet, they did their first dance to “Twist and Shout” by The Beatles. All guests’ requests were played, and there was some epic dancing. Barry and Sue chose to end the night with some slow romantic songs- the last of which was “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton.

Barry asked everyone for a round of applause for me, June, the DJ at the end of the night, as everyone had enjoyed themselves. Thank you, Barry.
